DTI transcriptionists are the foundation of its success, and our reputation is built on quality and timeliness. For that reason we only hire transcriptionists who possess this standard of quality, since customer satisfaction is our top priority.

If you meet the necessary equipment requirements listed below and have what it takes to be an independent contractor with DTI, then please complete the transcription test and submit it to us so we can determine if you possess the skills necessary to work for DTI.

Your location does not matter since all work is submitted via the internet. After we receive your test results our managers will check and score it. If you have met our testing guidelines we will contact you concerning employment. We will send you a self-employment contract via email.

Equipment Requirement

Hardware

  • IBM compatible Pentium computer.
  • sound card.
  • 56k modem; cable or DSL line preferred.
  • DVIPS player or any wave player that works with DVIPS vox files.

Software

  • Windows 98 or 2000.
  • Microsoft Word 97 or greater.
  • Internet access.
  • Stedman's or other medical spellchecker.

Reference Books

  • AAMT Book of Style for Medical Transcription.

Independent Contractor Qualifications

  • At least two years of practical experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Able to produce accurate and neat reports with attention to detail.
  • Self-discipline.
  • Organization.
  • Resourcefulness.
  • Flexibility to be able to take on more work responsibilities when asked.
  • Commitment to patient confidentiality.
  • Dependability and commitment to follow through with the work in a 24-hour period.
  • Personable and easy to get along with.
  • General knowledge of computers with experience in Windows 98/2000 and Microsoft Word.
